Monday 13/10/03 to Tuesday 14/10/03
A cloudy start to Monday in parts of southern England, Wales and around Irish Sea coasts. There will be outbreaks of mostly light rain in these areas, and the dull, misty conditions will remain for much of the day. Parts of north-east England and eastern Scotland will have haar and fret plaguing the coasts with strong easterly winds. Elsewhere, a fine day with sunny spells, but feeling cool in the keen easterly winds. Overnight, western parts will remain cloudy, but clear spells developing elsewhere. Tuesday will be a similar day, with cloudy skies and outbreaks of light rain through Irish Sea coasts, and into south-west England. Western parts of Ireland, together with the rest of England and Wales will be dry with sunny spells. Once again, north-eastern coasts of Scotland and England will have low cloud and mist, but will be fine a short way inland. Fresh easterly winds will make it feel cool, especially in the north where the winds will be rather strong.
Wednesday 15/10/03 to Thursday 16/10/03
Southern parts of Ireland and parts of Cornwall and Devon will remain cloudy with occasional patchy rain. Much brighter elsewhere with long sunny spells, more so than during Monday and Tuesday. Easterly winds will strengthen across southern parts however, so it will feel rather cool out and about. Coastal mist and fog will still plague some east coast regions, but on the whole it will be dry and sunny. Overnight, mist and fog will form in northern parts, with clear spells in the south. On Thursday, the brighter skies with plenty of sunshine should finally force the cloud away from western parts, so all parts will have a fine Autumnal day. The easterly winds across southern Britain, particularly across the south-east will make it feel very cool however, taking the edge off the temperatures. Haar may still be a problem in some eastern parts, and in the north morning fog may be slow to clear. Turning chilly overnight in northern parts.
Friday 17/10/03 to Sunday 19/10/03
High pressure very much in charge on Friday, with all parts seeing the continuation of fine, sunny weather. Easterly winds will keep it feeling cool across the south, but will gradually ease. Frost and fog may be slow to clear in northern parts, where winds will be lighter. There will be very little change over the weekend, with predominantly dry, settled weather for all parts. Winds will ease further in the south, so feeling a little less cold. There is current uncertainty at present, although it does look as if cloudier skies with patchy rain may spread southwards across Scotland later on Saturday and during Sunday, with colder weather filtering in behind this. As ever though, more details on this in the next weekly update.
