Sun 14 Dec
Weekly Outlook : 15/12/03-21/12/03
Wintry at first, then mild and damp but becoming fine with sunny spells later.

Monday 15/12/03 to Tuesday 16/12/03
Many parts of Scotland will have a wintry Monday morning, with showers continuing to fall as sleet and snow in northern and eastern parts. These will tend to die away in the afternoon though, and it will become rather cloudy with rain in places later. England and Wales will have a frosty start, but then a lovely, bright day with plenty of sunshine. Ireland and Northern Ireland will be mostly dry and bright, but clouding over from the west by evening. Overnight, much of England, Wales and Scotland will have clear spells and a widespread frost. Ireland will become cloudier with patchy rain, but this will clear away by Tuesday morning. Western and northern Scotland will have a cloudier day, with patchy drizzle. Further rain will spread into western parts of Ireland during the afternoon also. The rest of England and Wales will have another mostly dry day, although with fresh south-westerly winds, coasts in southern parts will have sea fog at times. Cold in the south-east, milder in the north-west.

Wednesday 17/12/03 to Thursday 18/12/03
Further frost in eastern parts of England will clear on Wednesday morning, then once again England and Wales will have a dry day with sunny spells. With strong southerly winds, southern and south-west facing coasts may catch some low cloud at times. The same is true of parts of southern Ireland, but inland it will be bright. Thicker cloud will affect Northern Ireland and western parts of Scotland, with further patchy drizzle at times. Slowly becoming milder everywhere. Overnight, south-east England will again have a patchy frost, leading into another dry day with sunny spells on Thursday. A band of weakening cloud and rain will spread south-eastwards across northern England, north Wales, and into the Midlands by evening. Behind this, Scotland and Northern Ireland will become drier and brighter, but turning colder once again. Ireland will have a largely dry day with some sunny spells. Winds staying southerly in southern parts, turning more north-westerly in northern parts.

Friday 19/12/03 to Sunday 21/12/03
On Friday, high pressure will build once again across all parts, but with rather more cloud around frost won't be as widespread as it was during the first part of the week. Scotland will become rather cold, with light easterly winds, but on the whole winds will be light elsewhere. On Saturday, with high pressure firmly in control, many places will have a frost and fog overnight, slow to clear into the morning. Once it does however, most parts will be dry with bright or sunny spells. Later in the day, thicker cloud will slowly drift into more northern and western parts. On Sunday, it currenltly looks as if more unsettled weather will spread slowly south-eastwards, with rain affecting many northern and western parts. Current forecasts are rather uncertain regarding the weekend however, and more detail will be given in the next forcast update.
