Monday 16/02/04 to Tuesday 17/02/04
Monday will start rather grey in many places, with mist and fog slow to clear in a few spots. For most of England and Wales, it will be a dry day though, with a few bright or sunny spells, but also rather a lot of cloud around. South-eastern parts of England may have a few scattered, drizzly showers at first however. Much of Ireland and Scotland will also be cloudy, but with the risk of rain or drizzle throughout the day. Temperatures around average everywhere, but with light winds. Overnight, the patchy rain will spread into northern England, with mostly dry but cloudy conditions elsewhere. Tuesday morning will be much brighter across Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern England, with plenty of sunny spells. Many parts of Ireland, Wales, along with central and southern England will have another cloudy day, with the continued risk of patchy rain and drizzle, although many places will become dry during the afternoon.
Wednesday 18/02/04 to Thursday 19/02/04
Once the early frost and fog have cleared away on Wednesday morning, much of the UK will enjoy a much brighter, drier day. Sunny spells will be widespread, especially across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England. With very light winds, or even calm conditions, it will feel pleasant in the sunshine, despite temperatures being slightly below average. Overnight, patchy fog and a widespread frost will form, especially across England and Wales. The brightest, sunniest weather will be across Wales, England and eastern Scotland on Thursday, but only once the early fog has cleared. Ireland, Northern Ireland and western parts of Scotland will become increasingly cloudy through the afternoon, with rain in the far west by tea-time. Very light winds in most places, but with a moderate south-westerly across Ireland later.
Friday 20/02/04 to Sunday 22/02/04
Conditions will remain very much static on Friday, with dry, bright and sunny weather across England, Wales and eastern Scotland. There will be occasional brightness elsewhere, but western parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland have the risk of patchy rain at times. Saturday will be very much the same, although the patchy rain and thicker cloud will nudge south-eastwards to reach northern England, eastern Scotland and north Wales during the afternoon. Sunday should see the rain finally reaching the south coast of England, although it will be very fragmented by then. Freshening winds elsewhere will drag more active weather fronts in from the Atlantic by the end of the afternoon. More details in the next forecast update.
