Wednesday 22/06/05 to Thursday 23/06/05
Wednesday will be rather unsettled across many northern and western areas, with low pressure and associated weather fronts giving a good deal of cloud and showery rain. Most of the rain will be across Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England, where it will also be windy. However, showery rain will also affect Ireland for a time, as well as Wales and south-west England during the afternoon. It should just about remain dry with some hazy sunshine across the Midlands and southern England, where it will be warmer. On Thursday, there will still be a lot of cloud across Scotland and northern England, with the greatest risk of rain and drizzle across eastern areas. A much brighter day across Ireland and Northern Ireland, as high pressure builds from the Atlantic. The rest of England and Wales will have a dry day with some sunshine, but also large amounts of cloud in the afternoon. Rather cool everywhere, with moderate north-west winds.
Friday 24/06/05 to Saturday 25/06/05
With high pressure to the west and low pressure over Scandinavia, a cool north-westerly flow will be maintained across the UK and Ireland on Friday. Closest to the low pressure centre, eastern England and eastern Scotland will be mostly cloudy with patchy rain or drizzle affecting the coasts and hills. Much brighter across remaining areas with some sunshine, the best of which will be across sheltered parts of western Scotland, Northern Ireland and Ireland. Feeling pleasant out of the wind in the south and west. Although very little will change into Saturday, England and Wales will see more cloud around than during Friday. There will also be an increased risk of showery rain across these areas, always heaviest in the east. Further west, with high pressure close-by, Ireland and Northern Ireland will hold on to the dry and settled weather, with some sunshine. Feeling rather cool, especially across Scotland where the north-west winds will be brisk.
Sunday 26/06/05 to Monday 27/06/05
Both Sunday and Monday will maintain the east-west split, with cool north-westerly winds across all areas. Once again, the best of the sunshine will be reserved for Northern Ireland, Ireland, and sheltered western parts of England and Wales. Thicker cloud will plague eastern areas, with sporadic rain and drizzle likely almost anywhere, although mostly over the hills and around the coasts. There are indications that towards mid week, the high pressure out to the west will ridge eastwards, giving most places some sunshine. However, confidence is low at present, so please check back for further forecast updates.
