Monday 22/11/04 toTuesday 23/11/04
High pressure still looks set to dominate the weather across much of the UK and Ireland on Monday, giving lots of sunny spells after a frosty start. The best of the sunshine will be acros southern England, south Wales and southern parts of Ireland. Across northern England, Scotland, and later Northern Ireland, there will be more of a west to south-westerly wind, bringing in a lot of cloud at times. However, it will stay mostly dry with some brightness. During Tuesday, the cloud will thicken sufficiently across Scotland and Northern Ireland to give patchy rain, especially on west-facing coasts and hills. Rain will also move in to western parts of Ireland during the afternoon. For the rest of England, Wales and Ireland, it will be another cold and frosty start, but with sunny spells developing. However, as south-westerly winds increase, coasts of south-west England and south Wales will turn overcast and misty.
Wednesday 24/11/04 to Thursday 25/11/04
During Wednesday, strong south-westerly winds will bring a lot of cloud and outbreaks of rain to western Scotland, Northern Ireland and much of the Irish Republic. Some of the rain will be heavy, but across eastern parts of Ireland and eastern Scotland, it will be lighter and more sporadic. England and Wales will be mostly dry, but the best of any sunny spells will be reserved for the east. Western coasts and hills will stay rather misty with the risk of drizzle. It will be very mild everywhere though. England and Wales are expected to remain generally dry during Thursday too, although there will be very little in the way of brightness around. Rain will be extensive across most of Ireland and Scotland, creeping into north-west England during the day. South-westerly winds will also remain quite brisk in the north, but it will still feel relatively mild everywhere.
Friday 26/11/04 to Saturday 27/11/04
With low pressure to the west and high pressure to the south-east, we're not expecting much change in the weather into Friday. This means that it will stay rather wet across Ireland, Scotland and northern England, with some heavy bursts of rain around. This will also affect north Wales through the afternoon, with other western coasts of England and Wales remaining grey and damp. The best of any sunny spells will be in southern and eastern England, where it will remain dry. During Saturday, the area of low pressure is finally expected to make inroads across the UK, bringing outbreaks of heavy and persistent rain across most places. Through the afternoon, Ireland and other western parts will become brighter and colder with sunny spells and showers. However, the east of the UK is expected to remain cloudy and wet.
