Fri 18 Apr
Weekly Outlook : 18/04/03-24/04/03
Fine at first. Rain/showers Sun/Mon, cooler. More settled later.

Friday 18/04/03 to Saturday 19/04/03
Another fine, sunny day on Friday, as high pressure continues to dominate. The best of the sunshine and warmest temperatures will be in the north-west, with highs of 22°C to 24°C. Eastern coasts will remain cool, between 12°C and 14°C due to a strengthening easterly wind. Overnight will see clear skies, and falling temperatures with the chance of ground frost, but this will make for a sunny start to Saturday. Most parts will again stay fine, although it will feel cooler with increasing easterly winds, best in the west at 19°C to 22°C. In the south-east, cloud will build as fronts move in from the continent, spreading a little rain across the region during the afternoon. Highs here of 10°C to 14°C, feeling raw in the strong east wind.

Sunday 20/04/03 to Monday 21/04/03
A shock to the system on Easter Sunday, as low pressure moves in. Rain will have spread across most southern parts during the morning, moving into Northern England and Northern Ireland during the afternoon. Some of the rain will be heavy, and it will linger along eastern coasts for much of the day. Staying fine across Scotland. A biting easterly wind, possibly reaching gale force across the north-east will make highs of only 8°C to 12°C feel even colder. The rain will clear southern parts, and by Monday only Scotland will hold on to persistent rain. Elsewhere, temperatures recovering to between 17°C and 19°C, but with low pressure close by there will be plenty of heavy, thundery showers. These will be slow moving in light winds, some giving substantial downpours, possibly with hail. There will be sunny spells between the showers however.

Tuesday 22/04/03 to Thursday 24/04/03
A very complex situation for this period means that confidence is low at the moment. However temperatures look set to rise mid-week, although not as warm as of late, then fall again towards the weekend. During Tuesday, central parts will be bright with scattered showers, however the far north and far south will see cloudier skies with spells of rain from time to time. Many parts look set to become dry on Wednesday, although easterly winds will increase once more making it feel chilly on the eastern side of the UK. By Thursday, rain will spread in from the east, crossing most parts by the end of the day and allowing much cooler weather to again filter westwards.
