Friday 23/07/04 to Saturday 24/07/04
A good part of England and Wales will be fine on Friday, with some pleasant sunny spells. With light southerly winds, it will feel pleasantly warm, perhaps even humid in the south-east. Ireland will join in the mostly settled conditions, but Northern Ireland and much of Scotland will still be rather cloudy with outbreaks of showery rain, some heavy. On Saturday, very warm and humid air will continue to move slowly north across south-east England and East Anglia. However, with this will come a good deal of cloud with some heavy, thundery showers. The rest of England, Wales and much of Ireland will be dry however, with some warm sunshine and only isolated showers. Scotland will also be much better than of late, although afternoon showers will be rather more widespread than elsewhere. Winds will be light and variable everywhere.
Sunday 25/07/04 to Monday 26/07/04
With high pressure close by to the west, the settled weather for much of the UK will continue on Sunday. The risk of thundery showers will remain across southern parts, where it will remain very warm and humid. Across the rest of England and Wales, it should stay dry with some warm sunshine, as it will across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Once again, it will be Scotland which picks up a few scattered showers during the afternoon, and a few of these may turn heavy. A light westerly wind in the north, easterly in the south. On Monday, a nose of very warm air looks set to thrust northwards across much of England and Wales, with temperatures in the south reaching the high twenties Celsius. As ever in the UK however, this will be humid air, with the risk of afternoon thunderstorms. Ireland and Scotland will be rather more cloudy, with the risk of rain, especially across northern Scotland.
Tuesday 27/07/04 onwards
It will remain very warm on Tuesday, with the warmer air making its presence felt even across Scotland and Northern Ireland. As high pressure drifts over the UK, the threat of afternoon thunder will diminish, leaving most places dry with plenty of warm sunshine. Once again, the temperatures will reach the high twenties in the south, low to mid-twenties in the north. At present, the settled, warm weather looks set to last through Wednesday and into Thursday, but with a thundery breakdown likely on Thursday night and into Friday. The north of Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland may be rather cloudy with patchy rain during this period however. As ever, please check back for further updates on next week's forecast.
