Monday 26/04/04 to Tuesday 27/04/04
On Monday, much of the UK will still be settled and dry with some warm spells of sunshine. The best of the brightness will be across England, Wales and eastern parts of both Ireland and Scotland, but there may be a shower or two in central England during the afternoon. Western Scotland and parts of Northern Ireland will be bright at first, but cloud will increase threatening showery rain towards evening. Light winds everywhere, but freshening in the north later. On Tuesday, a band of showery rain looks set to cross many northern and eastern parts of Scotland and England, perhaps with the odd heavier burst. High pressure will build back from the west however, so the rest of the UK will have a mostly dry day with some bright or sunny spells. It will still feel pleasant, but with a moderate north-westerly breeze picking up, it won't be as warm as over the weekend.
Wednesday 28/04/04 to Thursday 29/04/04
Wednesday will be a mostly fine day across England and Wales, with some warm sunny spells developing widely. Eastern Scotland, along with eastern parts of Ireland will also be dry with some sunshine. The cloud will tend to thicken across western parts of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland however, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving in slowly from the west. On Thursday, high pressure will still maintain its grip across much of England, Wales and Ireland, so another mostly dry day with sunny spells is likely here. Scattered showers will affect north-western parts of England however, and a spell of more persistent rain looks set to cross parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland during the afternoon. Windy here, but the winds will remain light elsewhere.
Friday 30/04/04 to Saturday 01/05/04
Friday looks like being the transition day to much more unsettled weather across most parts. North-westerly winds will strengthen, bringing thicker cloud and outbreaks of rain across the UK from the west. Eastern parts will start dry with some sunny spells, and equally western parts will brighten up behind the rain, with just a scattering of showers. On Saturday, the rain will clear remaining eastern parts, then most places will have a mixture of sunshine and showers. The showers will always be heaviest in the west and the north, with the odd clap of thunder. Feeling cooler everywhere, especially in the strong westerly winds.
