Please note that forecasting beyond five days is notoriously difficult, and small errors at short-range can lead to large deviations further in time. Our longer-range forecasts are based on the most accurate weather data available at the time, but alterations may be required as the period progresses. Monday 26/07/04 to Tuesday 27/07/04
The setup for Monday will see low pressure up to the north of the UK, and high pressure building in to the south-west. This will mean that much of Ireland, Wales and England will have patchy cloud and plenty of sunshine. It will become warm, especially in the south with temperatures in the mid to high twenties Celsius in places. Scotland and Northern Ireland will also have some sunny spells, but it will be more cloudy here with a scattering of showers developing. The high pressure area will move across the UK on Tuesday, allowing a light southerly flow to develop behind it. This will keep the warm temperatures across many parts, with the best of the sunshine over England and Wales. Once again, the far north and north-west of the UK will be plagued by more in the way of cloud, but any light showers will largely die away.

Wednesday 28/07/04 to Thursday 29/07/04
The long overdue summer will continue on Wednesday, with high pressure just to the east of the UK. Once again, temperatures across central and southern England will reach the high twenties Celsius, but even across the far north, we'll still see highs into the low twenties. Everywhere should be dry with long spells of sunshine, the best of these across central and eastern parts. Light southerly winds for the most part, but with a freshening south-westerly in the north-west later. Little change is expected across the vast majority of the country on Thursday, with more warm and sunny weather. With a south-easterly breeze in the south-east, we may even see a thirty Celsius being reached in favoured spots. The coasts will be the place to be to escape the heat, as afternoon sea-breezes develop. However, Scotland and Northern Ireland will see a change, with cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain and drizzle nudging in from the north-west.

Friday 30/07/04 Saturday 31/07/04
Friday and the weekend currently looks like seeing a gradual breakdown of the settled weather, as weather fronts move in from the west. Friday will see a continuation of the fine weather for most though, with plenty of very warm sunshine. However, cloud will thicken across Ireland will thundery rain spreading in from the west later. This thundery rain will slowly spread across the remainder of the UK during Saturday and Sunday, with the warm sunny weather slowly being squeezed out into the North Sea. However, this break down is currently uncertain, and the settled weather may hang on for a little longer. Please check back for updated forecasts for next weekend and beyond.
