Staying unsettled in general, but with brighter spells for all at times.

Wednesday 22/10/03 to Thursday 23/10/03
It will be a cloudy day for many parts on Wednesday, especially in southern parts. Spells of heavy rain will affect much of southern England and south Wales, with the risk of thunder. Heavy showers, some wintry will affect eastern coasts of Scotland and England, and east coasts of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Elsewhere, there will be some sunny spells, with only a scattering of showers. It will be very windy, touching gale force in the south. Sheltered northern and western parts will become cold overnight, with showers continuing in the east and south. By Thursday morning, remaining rain will clear the south-west, then all parts will have a much brighter day with sunny spells. Once again, eastern coasts will be affected by wintry showers, along with eastern parts of Ireland. The winds will ease gradually during the day, and later northern parts will become mostly fine and dry. Feeling cool, but not as cold as on Wednesday with lighter winds.

Friday 24/10/03 to Saturday 25/10/03
Eastern coasts of England will have a scattering of showers on Friday, as well as coasts of Northern Ireland, north Wales and northern Scotland. Elsewhere it will be a largely dry day with plenty of sunny spells after a chilly, frosty start. Later in the day, cloud will thicken across western Ireland and by late evening patchy rain will spread in off the Atlantic. Winds will be mostly light, but northerly so feeling rather chilly. Cold in central and eastern parts overnight with a ground frost. On Saturday morning, much of England and Wales will be dry with sunny spells. Cloud and spells of rain will be affecting much of Northern Ireland and Scotland, with snow over the Scottish mountains. This cloud and rain will spread slowly southwards to all parts during the day, reaching the south coast by dusk. Behind this, skies will clear but with a scattering of showers around northern coasts. Feeling rather chilly with brisk north-westerly winds.

Sunday 26/10/03 to Tuesday 28/10/03
On Sunday, remaining rain will clear from southern parts, then it will be a largely dry day with sunny spells. During the afternoon however, western parts of Ireland, Northern Ireland and north-west Scotland will cloud over with outbreaks of rain by evening. Westerly winds will become strong here later, but light winds elsewhere will give a chilly night. On Monday, a weakening band of cloud and rain will cross all parts, with further rain reaching the north-west during the day. Gale force north-westerly winds will affect northern parts, and these will continue into Tuesday with heavy, squally showers. Rain will affect other parts on Tuesday, clearing to sunny spells later. Feeling a little milder everywhere, but tempered by the strong winds in the north.
