Please note that forecasting beyond five days is notoriously difficult, and small errors at short-range can lead to large deviations further in time. Our longer-range forecasts are based on the most accurate weather data available at the time, but alterations may be required as the period progresses. Monday 28/06/04 to Tuesday 29/06/04
Most of England and Wales will enjoy some warm sunshine on Monday, but there'll always be the risk of one or two showers across south-west England and western parts of Wales. There's a greater risk of showers across Scotland and Northern Ireland during the day. In fact, more persistent rain will cross both Ireland and Northern Ireland during the afternoon, driven on by some blustery south-westerly winds. Feeling pleasantly warm in the south, but with temperatures around average elsewhere. By Tuesday, showery bursts of rain will have spread across much of Scotland and northern England, but it will largely clear away during the afternoon. At the same time though, yet more wind and rain will pile in across Ireland, together with some strong westerly winds. Once again, the best of the weather will be across central and southern England, and much of Wales, but there will be some showers even here to interrupt the sunshine.

Wednesday 30/06/04 to Thursday 01/07/04
It will remain very unsettled during Wednesday, with outbreaks of heavy rain sweeping across Northern Ireland and much of Scotland. Accompanying the rain will be strong westerly winds, possibly reaching gale force around exposed coasts. Frequent blustery showers will also race across much of England, Wales and Ireland, perhaps with a rumble of thunder. Once again, the best of the sunshine will be across southern and eastern England. Thursday will be a promising start across much of the UK, but this will be deceiving. Ireland will already be cloudy with outbreaks of rain, and this will spread across most of England and Wales during the afternoon. Some of the rain will be heavy, perhaps with a rumble or two of thunder. For a change, the best of any brightness will be across Scotland and Northern Ireland, but even here there will be some blustery showers. Temperatures around average elsewhere, but feeling rather cool in a brisk south-westerly wind.

Friday 02/07/04 to Saturday 03/07/04
With low pressure firmly in charge, Friday will be yet another unsettled day. At the moment, it looks as if outbreaks of heavy rain will be slow moving across many parts, with the best of any brightness in the north once again. Saturday will be very similar, with rain slowly clearing to blustery showers during the afternoon, with a brisk north-westerly wind developing. There is a glimmer of hope for Sunday however, with indications that pressure may begin to build giving more settled conditions. All is not lost for summer yet, although next week will certainly not be a summery week to remember!
