Weekly Outlook : 26/07/03-01/08/03
Very Unsettled. Heavy Rain At Times.

Saturday 26/07/03 to Sunday 27/07/03
Northern parts of Scotland will keep hold of cloud and outbreaks of rain for at time during Saturday, but becoming drier from the south. For remaining parts, a bright morning with some sunny spells, but also a scattering of showers. The exception will be southern England, where cloud will increase from the south-west with heavy rain spreading across much of the region during the day. Elsewhere, remaining bright with a few showers, and rain will clear the south during the evening. Overnight and into Sunday, most parts will become dry for a time with some sunny spells during the morning. Northern Ireland and western Scotland will cloud over during the afternoon with some showery rain around, and showers will develop elsewhere, especially in the east. On the whole however, a better afternoon during Sunday with some pleasant sunshine around, and feeling warmer than recently.

Monday 28/07/03 to Tuesday 29/07/03
Monday will see a return to low pressure and unsettled weather. During the morning cloud and heavy rain will sweep eastwards across much of Ireland, then on across England and Wales during the afternoon. Winds in the south-west may touch gale force for a time, lighter elsewhere although still breezy. Only Scotland will escape with a largely dry day, although it will be mostly cloudy. Temperatures around average, feeling cool however in the wind and rain. Tuesday will see little change across England and Wales, with further heavy rain around leading to the possibility of local flooding. It will push slowly eastwards, becoming brighter in the west. Scotland and much of Ireland will be mostly dry and bright, although with some scattered coastal showers.

Wednesday 30/07/03 to Friday 01/08/03
The outlook for the end of the week is a little uncertain at present, but with a very active zonal situation the likelihood of further cloud and rain is high. Wednesday will see a continuation of Tuesday's rain in the extreme south-east, while at the same time new weather fronts will steam in off the Atlantic bringing cloud and rain to much of Ireland. In between the bands of rain, it should be dry with some sunny spells around. Into Thursday, the rain will cross remaining parts of England, becoming brighter from the west but with some heavy showers. Friday looks set to see a repeat performance, with a new low pressure system spreading wet weather across many parts, with temperatures still around average. So all in all, a very unsettled week ahead, although never particularly cool as consolation.
