30 Day Outlook August

Still changeable

Our forecast pattern, although not entirely consistent with the finer details of the actual weather, has shown a rather good match to the prevailing weather patterns of the weather and has been generally better than forecast produced by the global computer models in recent weeks. That said, the situation at the beginning of August will need to be monitored carefully to ensure that our faith in our forecast pattern is well founded for the longer term.

The immediate outlook is for a period of warmer and much more settled weather, this primarily for the south of the UK at first, but this finer weather is then expected to spread it's influence northwards into all areas for a time. All of the UK and Ireland will become dry and settled, and warm.

This settled spell may not last too long though and the prospects for early August may be for low pressure to influence the weather, although the north and northwest will bear the brunt of the unsettled conditions, the south still seeing more anticyclonic influences.

Early August is again likely to see a build of pressure but this may take place to the west of the UK and Ireland with the winds mainly in the northwest.

There may be another spells of quieter weather just prior to mid-month; winds then swinging back into the south west with pressure higher to the south.

The end of August looks much more unsettled with the possibility of a disturbed spell of weather.
