Thursday 02/12/04 to Friday 03/12/04
During Thursday, high pressure will be sitting right across the UK, although it's influence will not be convincing. Most places will be dry, and where there's any clear skies overnight it'll be a frosty start to the day. Sunny spells will develop, especially across central parts of England and Wales. However, there will be a lot of cloud too, and this will be thick enough for patchy drizzle across some eastern parts of England, and also across the north of Scotland and Northern Ireland. A narrow ridge of high pressure will remain in place on Friday, but low pressure both over France, and to the north-west of Scotland will be trying to move in. After a frosty start, northern England, Wales and the Midlands will have a dry and bright day. Across southern England though, it will feel increasingly chilly in an easterly wind, and cloud will thicken sufficiently to bring rain later. Milder across Ireland and Scotland in south-westerly winds, but cloudier too with rain towards evening.

Saturday 04/12/04 to Sunday 05/12/04
Saturday will be very similar to Friday, with central parts of the country staying fine, whilst northern and southern parts have a lot of cloud around. The cloud across Scotland and Northern Ireland will be accompanied by a fresh to strong south-westerly wind, with the risk of occasional rain at any time during the day. Southern England will also be cloudy as weather fronts sit through the Channel. The best of the sunshine once again will be across the Midlands and northern England, after an early frost. The easterly wind will continue to make it feel cold across southern parts of England and Wales on Sunday, as well a producing rather cloudy skies. Morning frost and fog across north Wales, the Midlands and northern England will clear to leave another dry and bright day. Eastern Scotland will also be fairly bright, as will eastern parts of Ireland. Northern Ireland and Scotland will stay cloudier though with sporadic light rain almost anywhere.

Monday 06/12/04 to Tuesday 07/12/04
Monday looks like being a generally settled day across England, Wales and eastern Scotland, with sunny spells developing after a frosty start. Parts of Western Scotland, Ireland and Northern Ireland may also start bright, but increasing south-west winds will bring outbreaks of heavy rain across most places during the afternoon. Still chilly in the south and east, milder in the west and north-west. By Tuesday, we're expecting the area of high pressure to finally lose its grip on the UK and drift away eastwards. This will open the door for low pressure to sweep in from the west, bringing spells of heavy and persistent rain to all but eastern England towards the end of the afternoon. It will turn milder everywhere, although with all the cloud and rain around it won't feel too pleasant. Please check back for further forecast updates.
