Friday 30/05/03 to Saturday 31/05/03
Another hot day on Friday for many parts of England and Wales. Sunshine from the word go will allow temperatures to rocket into the 80'sF, although it will be rather hazy at times, and rather humid. Across Ireland and Northern England, it will also be very warm with sunny spells, but rather a lot of cloud around at times. Similarly, Scotland will see cloudier interludes, and during the afternoon some heavy showers, possibly thundery will break out. Most places remaining dry however. Another warm, sultry night leading into another hot day for many of Saturday. Long spells of hazy sunshine across most parts, possibly lifting temperatures even higher than on Friday, cooler around the coasts. However, these high temperatures will set off a few evening thunderstorms, especially in the north and east. Across Ireland, cloud will increase bringing some spells of rain off the Atlantic by late afternoon.
Sunday 01/06/03 to Monday 02/06/03
Although only 48hrs away, the forecast for Sunday is proving very difficult at this stage. It will certainly be very warm or hot again across the mainland UK, whereas fronts are expected to bring cloudier skies with rain across most of Ireland, cooler here too. Into the afternoon, it is looking likely that thunderstorms will break out more widely across England and Wales. Some heavy downpours are expected, and in eastern parts these may continue long into the night. The progress of these storms will dictate Monday's weather, however we expect the storms to remain close to the east coast for much of the day. Another band of cloud and thundery rain will spread slowly east across Wales and central England in the afternoon, becoming brighter and fresher across the far west later. Light winds turning moderate south-westerly later.
Tuesday 03/06/03 to Thursday 05/06/03
Into Tuesday, rain with possible thunder looks set to remain close to eastern parts, whereas most other parts become dry and sunny. It will begin to warm up again also, although not as humid as the weekend. Later in the day, cloud looks set to spread rain into south-western parts on strengthening south-westerly winds. Most parts will escape with a dry day however, the best of the sunshine in north-west Scotland. During Wednesday and Thursday, the warmer weather will slowly break down from the west, as bands of rain move in off the Atlantic. However, temperatures are expected to remain well above average, and there will be some warm sunshine between the rain-bands. As the situation is currently so complex, more detail about next week will be posted in the next forecast update.
