Location: Northern and northwestern Spain

Criador is a Spanish term applied to rain-bearing westerly winds of Northern Spain. 'Criador' is also the Spanish word for grower or breeder. Probably because the associated rains are highly welcomed by local farmers and breeders.

Synoptically the criador is associated with Atlantic depressions tracking eastwards across the central and northern parts of the Bay of Biscay.
