British Isles White X-mas Forecast
TOI - December 17th 2002

Seven days to go for Christmas - Confidence is reaching 'moderate' levels that Christmas 2002 will be unsettled, mild and green for most of England, Wales and Ireland.

There will be a spell of colder weather and high pressure until the weekend, but low pressure northwest of the British Isles and high pressure across south-western Europe seems to become a more and more robust feature of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

This means all systems are set for a green and mild Christmas for much of Ireland, England and Wales.

There is a slight chance for some wet snowy rain or sleety showers on higher grounds above 600m / 1800ft above msl (400m / 1200ft in Scotland), but that's it for the moment.

Okay, at least a tiny little bit of good news. There's a 'jump' in the model on Sunday the 22nd. This might be a faint hint, that there still is something going on.

Stay tuned for tomorrows edition of WeatherOnline's white Christmas countdown.
